Virtual Broad Street

Broad Street Run Through East Falls
Today is the first Sunday of May. Since my first time in 2017, that normally means waking up early and driving to Citizen Bank Park. Then after taking the Broad Street Line up to Olney, I would run back the ten miles with about 40,000 other people. When it was over, I would go watch the Phillies play before driving home.
Doesn't look bad, but my foot
hit in just the wrong place.

This year however, The Broad Street Run has been postponed until October. So following the lead of others, I went out today on my own and ran a solo ten miles. In four years, this was my slowest ten mile run but there were a few reasons for that.

1. At mile 2, I tripped on a crack in the sidewalk. I landed on my hands and knees. I took a few minutes to clean everything temporarily with the hand sanitizer I kept on my belt before continuing to run.

2. I learned yesterday that C&C Creamery was open again so of course I had to stop for a well deserved ice cream. Since they were at mile 7, I walked all of mile 8 while eating my Rocky Road (fitting flavor, right?).

3. While I was finishing my ice cream, I happened to be in the right place at the wrong time and witnessed a crazy situation.

Who can resist Ice Cream?
By the time I actually finished my run, I had conflicting distances. My Google Fit watch showed 10.86 miles while Runkeeper on my phone said 9.47 miles. Of course, I was looking at my watch so I didn't realize I was short until I got home. I looked at the map and the 9.47 is the current distance. I did go out and walk a bit more so I know I hit over 10 miles today, but sadly my virtual run was a little short.

Now to hope that my knee isn't swollen in the morning from the fall because even after washing it again at home it looks a little on the bad side.
